like an Iguana...

A group of us from Jatun Sacha took a tour to Kika Rock, one of the small islands off San Cristobal. We snorkeled with Sea Lion, 100s of sea turtles, stingray, beautiful fish species and even shark! we were hoping to see Hammerhead shark, but they were not to be seen, however, we did snorkel with Galapagean white tip and black tipped reef sharks. we also saw a huge whale only 2-3m from the boat. we saw an eagle ray, however it was quite a few meters below us.
The Sea Lion are just so beautiful... i could play with them all day! they came so close to us, brushing past us in the water. they were so inquisitive. even the turtles let you get quite close to them, upto 1.5m before they swim away... they´re prety fast too.

Chris, Mateo and I decided to do our advanced scuba course during our final few days on the Galapagos... it was Awesome! we learned how to use a compass under water and navigate our way around. We did a deep dive to 35m, a night dive and a wreck dive. we saw so many awesome animals; sea lion, sea snakes, stingrays, thousands of colourful fish, moray eels, and during one of the dives a whole school of Goldenrays flew past us... it was just magical!
the night dive was incredible, i´ll admit i was terrified when we had to turn off the lights... pitch black, under water... loss of all senses: no sight, sound, touch... scary! But when we turned off our lights, little green specs came into vision, green fluorescent plankton, impressive.
Our wreck dive was my favourite, the ship was only 45yrs old, but over 100m long, we were lucky to have over 10m visibility... i felt like ariel from the little mermaid! It was like we´d entered another world, fish swam past us without even noticing our presence, they swam in groups following eachother like highways. The colours were incredible, the sun shone through and cast shadows along the reefs, i can´t wait to do another wreck dive!

on saturday night some of the locals organised a boat party... a catamaran revamped with a dance floor, fairy lights, massive sound system... caprhiñas all night!
the boast cruised out of the bay, so that when we turned the lights off we were looking up at millions of stars. i was practising my spanish on a local when he asked where we were from, i said australia. he looked at me shocked... he thought i´d said `estrella´, which is spanish for `star´.

We had dinner with some good friends of ours on our last night on the Galapagos... it was Tina´s 21st birthday again! and Monolo cooked us the most amazing meal.
We will certainly miss all our friends and the Galapagos!
