Inka Trail & Machu Pichu - Peru

towards the start of the Inka Trail
our group

at some of the ruins along the way...

sun rising over Machu Pichu

famous view from the sun gate

lookin good after a 4am wake up and a 2hr hike... things we do for a beautiful sun rise

mossy steps along the trail

you can just see the steep path on the left, winding its way to the ruins

taking a break above the clouds

after months of training ¿ha ha ha?... we hiked the traditional Inka Trail leading into Machu Pichu... what they failled to mention, is that by traditional... they mean that you must carry your own sleeping bag, mat, clothes, food and water... up and down 4300m passes, on litterally 1000`s of steep, mossy and thus slippery steps, with a sheer drop on one side, dodging porters with 30Kg loads! Luckily the view is beautiful! so we forgot the weight on our backs within moments... most of the trek we were up in the cloud forests with panoramic views of snow capped mountains and smaller inka ruins covered in moss and vines. but the last day and a half we wound our way through jungle terrain, dodging vines and moss covered ruins
